Who are your favorite authors?

Reading....something I have always enjoyed. I remember sitting in the kitchen each night while my mom would cook. I would have reading homework. I looked forward to reading the chapter or two I was given...but not allowed to go any further. That was so frustrating to me....lol. Later on in life my mom admitted that it frustrated her as well. She wanted to know how the story would end.
Now, I don't like waiting. I am the kind of girl that will stay up until 5 am just
to finish a book. My sleepy eyes fighting to stay awake for one more chapter! I get so wrapped up in my books. I personally love reading my Bible, some classics, and Historical Christian Fiction. Right now I read many authors but have some favorites. They include Gilbert Morris, MaryLu Tyndall, Karen Witemeyer, Tracie Peterson, Cathy Marie Hake, Tamera Alexander, Lynn Austin, Lauraine Snelling and so on. I have enjoyed so many books by these authors and have many of their books in my bookshelves.

I just finished reading To Win Her Heart by Karen Witemeyer. I really enjoyed it...I didn't want it to end!

I am now waiting for a pre-buy from MaryLu Tyndall I purchased several months ago. It will release March 1st...and I am not being so patient. This cover was so beautiful! I have to admit that is the first reason I wanted to buy it. This one is called Forsaken Dreams and as soon as I read it I will post a review. Only 10 days now......come on March 1st!!  Forsaken Dreams can be purchased now at Amazon.com, Christianbook.com and many other places!

After Forsaken Dreams I hope to read Rosa's Land by Gilbert Morris.

So my questions to you are: Who is your favorite author or authors? What are you reading? Which book/books are you looking forward to reading?

  1. Johnette, this was such a great post. I loved hearing about your passion for reading and hearing who some of your favorite authors are.
My favorite authors (in no particular order) include MaryLu Tyndall, Lynn Austin, Julie Klassen, Siri Mitchell (her historical fiction books), Elizabeth Camden, Deeanne Gist, Karen Witemeyer, and Jody Hedlund.. Oh the list goes on!
Most of the books I'm looking forward to reading are the books that the authors above will be releasing this year.
Of course, I am definitely anxiously awaiting our copies of Forsaken Dreams to arrive :)

  3. Johnette, love your post. It's so much fun to compare notes on this subject. I always loved reading when I was in school and things haven't changed much, except I think I love to read more now. :)

Some of my favorite authors include: MaryLu Tyndall, Julie Lessman, Laura Frantz, Mary Connealy, Carol Cox, Karen Witemeyer, Maggie Brendan, Melanie Dickerson, Kathleen Morgan, Margaret Brownley...just to name a few.
Right now I'm reading Kathleen Morgan's "Love Forbidden", and enjoying it. And of course, I'm looking forward to reading all of the new books coming out (I think it's safe to say that "Forsaken Dreams" is on top of my TBR pile and I don't even have it yet:)

  4. Hi Angi,
Thank you! It is so much fun...well for all of us book addicts. I started reading when I was 3 years old and it just keeps getting worse...perhaps AA is in my future =)

I love Mary Connealy and Kathleen Morgan too. I have
some books from Laura Frants, Maggie Brendan and Margaret Brownley that I have in my to be read pile but have not gotten to read yet. If I could get paid to read I would love it..lol
I haven't read Love Forbidden. I did read her Irish series
but do not remember the name of it. I know I loved it though.
I am with you any day now I will dive head first into Forsaken Dreams and hope I come up for air! See you on the ship =)

You have to read Short-Straw Bride...I
know you will love it and might help you with your research too.
I adore Jane Austen...even the movies based on her books...she is wonderful. I really like Louisa May Alcott too. I read all of her books when I was in my teens.
      Thanks for stopping by!

  8. Looking forward to reading Forsaken Dreams! I just read the first few chapters of Ronie Kendig's Talon, and sure would like to read that! I enjoy historical fiction, medical and suspense fiction. I don't read much from the secular market, as there are so many wonderful inspirational authors available! Besides, I usually come away from a book having learned more about myself and my relationship to God and others.
    Great blog!

    1. Wow...everyone is talking about Talon..I guess I will have to see what it is all about!
I am with you, I stick with Christian
Fiction too but have read some classics too. There are a ton of authors out there that are great. I have found that some I prefer because of their testimony for the Lord written in their book. Some it seems they have just added God in here or there just to call it Christian Fiction. I have learned which authors I can trust! I too love to grow closer to the Lord through my reading.
Thank you so much for stopping by Betz!

    1. Hi Ladette! I love hearing so many looking forward to Forsaken Dreams! I heard about Firefly Island, you will have to tell me what you think when you are finished.
Cindy Woodsmall is good too. I was bored
with reading Amish and stopped...it just seems like it is all that is on the shelf. I was given one of her series and did read it and really liked her work.
You seem to be like me...so many books...so little time!
Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog!
