It's the little things that make me happy
My new Smashbook
I don't know if you know about Smashbooks by
K&company (a scrapbook company) I guess it is like Pintrest..but in book
form. You do whatever you want to the book, smash in anything you want...movie
or concert tickets, pictures, quotes, wedding ideas, babies (okay don't smash
or glue your baby into the book...of course I mean baby
ideas)...........................................
the possibilities are
endless.
Well, I have wanted one for awhile....and being frugal...and
a single mom........( It is easy for me to buy things for others...but not
myself.....especially things that are wants) I kept putting it off......but
went to Joann's with mom tonight and they were 40% off. So I purchased
one.............I didn't realize the inside of the books were all different....I
ended up buying the one with hot pink binding...and yeah...sooooo not a pink
fan....................so I had to make it my own. I just finished painting it
black........adding some cream......and going over it with a sage crackle paint.
I haven't used Tim Holtz crackle paint before...so I am nervous about the way it
will turn out............but as I said...I will post pictures of the good...and
the what on earth is that..............lol.
All this to say.....I know I
am not the only one that little things just make you smile. It doesn't take a
lot...but I get really excited over small things..................the hugs, or
the call/text just to say hi or I love you. The thoughtful
things..............doesn't have to be expensive or even purchased. Handmade is
even better..............even when I do something for myself....hmmmmm....I
can't be the only one
Here is a picture of the book I purchased and what
it looked like :
I removed the stickers and painted
it.....................
So here is my finished product....at least the painting. Not sure if I will add a title or more things...but have to get my Sunday School lesson and Children's Church lesson ready for tomorrow. The colors of my book now are mainly sage green and black...I do have some cream underneath. The green is crackle paint. I like more of a vintage, shabby chic look......not bright colors. Let me know what you think!
Cool! I wondered what you meant by painting it... That would never have occured to me. Of course, I like how the outside of mine looks already :D
ReplyDeleteWhich one did you get Sarah? Sorry I was so late with my reply...lol. Now I am very into my art journal....although the Smashbook is fun too.
